Top 6 Cafes Around Holborn

Get your caffeine fix without travelling too far!

We have collated some of our favourite independent coffee shops near our Astor Museum Hostel for you to try and enjoy during your stay with us.

London Review Bookshop

The lovely little London Review Bookshop Cafe is around the corner from our hostel. Named one of the UK’s best bookshop cafes by National Geographic, it’s definitely one to visit. Run by a group of strong females, the cafe has some lovely vegan food and cake options and strong coffee that will get your day started. Each day they have different cakes on offer. Still, we highly recommend the orange and almond cake when available (chef’s kiss!). Once you’ve enjoyed your coffee and cake, look in the bookstore, where you can browse more than 20,000 titles, ranging from contemporary fiction to current affairs.

Cafe de Provence

There is nothing better than being greeted and welcomed like an old friend. That’s what makes Cafe de Provence so unique. The beautifully decorated cafe serves up tasty, affordable coffee while making you feel at home. Even Justin Bieber has visited this cafe (if that’s not a reason to visit it, we don’t know what is!).

Location: Cafe de Provence, 14 Drury Ln, London WC2B 5RB

Kaffeine

Inspired by the coffee culture in Australia and New Zealand, Kaffeine is an independently owned cafe and espresso bar serving up some delicious coffees and cake. You can even study a barista course here, where their experts will teach you beautiful latte art skills you can impress all your friends back home!

Location: Kaffeine, 15 Eastcastle St, London W1T 3AY

WatchHouse Seven Dials

Do you know coffee? WatchHouse does. Serving speciality coffee, homemade food and beautiful interior design, having a coffee at WatchHouse is an experience. With two seating levels, the warm pastel colours and contemporary setting will make you feel comfortable and at home while you enjoy your coffee break.

Location: WatchHouse Seven Dials, 7 Upper St Martin’s Ln, London WC2H 9DL

Burr & Co. London

Take a stroll through Russell Square to visit Burr & Co. cafe in the Kimpton Fitzroy London hotel. Open until 11 pm; you can bring your laptop (lots of plug sockets and fast WiFi), a book or just yourself and enjoy a coffee in this modern cafe bar. Stay on into the evening when it turns into a wine bar too.

Location: Burr & Co. London, 1 Russell Square, London WC1B 5BE

Store Street Espresso

Located just behind the British Museum, Store Street Espresso is a small, minimalistic coffee shop that serves good coffee plus fresh muffins, cakes and sandwiches. A great option if you need a pick-me-up after exploring the museum all day.
