Spring is finally around the corner and people in London know exactly how to make the most of these first warmer days and enjoy all the outdoor activities the city has to offer. So, ditch your winter clothes because it’s time to witness spring blossoming, enjoy the beautiful parks and take part in colourful festival. Here’s our guide to the best outdoor events to check out if you are coming to London in March .

St. Patrick’s Day in London attract thousands of tourists every year. So on Sunday 17th make sure you head to the Irish parade: starting off in Piccadilly at 12 and passing some of the most iconic landmarks, you will end up in Trafalgar Square for an entire day of Irish celebrations. Here you can witness numerous Irish acts and indulge in Irish street food and pints of Guinness.

Spring is the perfect time to enjoy all the incredible parks and gardens if you want to escape the traffic of the big city. The flower display doesn’t get any better than in Kew Botanical Gardens, where until 22nd of April of March you have the chance to do a guided walking tour that takes in the highlights of this vibrant season! We recommend you to plan your trip ahead and book online as it tends to get very crowdy! (Entrance included in the ticket fee entrance to the gardens).

Spring is all about colours so why not taking part in one of the most colourful festivals in the world? Holi is one of India’s major festivities and marks the end of the winter and the arrival of the spring. The festival has become very popular also in Europe and this year it will be celebrated on 20th March. So be quick, get some colourful powder and check out all the places in London where you can have some fun.

London knows how to party and with almost 4,000 bars I’m sure you will find the perfect place for you. As the days get warmer also the parties move outdoors – that’s why there are many rooftop bars you can choose from and, if you are lucky, you will also get some suntan. A few of our faves:  Queen of Hoxton, Big Chill (Kings X), Netil House rooftop (Open from April onwards), The Windmill Mayfair.

If you are more like a sport person, there is a lot going on in London to enjoy. The river Thames is the perfect set for rowing races. The Women’s Head of the River Race on 16th March and the Head of River Race on 30th March gather professional rowers from all over the world every year. It’s almost time to find your spot along the river and cheer your favourite team.

With all the activities London has to offer, March is an exciting time of the year to move outdoors and celebrate the arrival of the spring!
