London Indoor Ice Rinks: Ice skating all year round

Spring has settled and Summer is definitely fast approaching. Despite the long and frigid winter, we were fortunate to enjoy some of the best that London has to offer during the winter months. With that being said, Londoners are ready for rooftop bars, mornings at our favourite markets, and warm summer nights. However, one of my personal favourite winter themed activities is Ice Skating, which you can do any time of the year at these London Indoor Ice Rinks.

QUEENS ICE & BOWL (Queensway)
Following a complete renovation in 2016, Queens Ice & Bowloffers a fair-sized ice surface complete with hockey lines, and with a new re-surface every few hours, you can be guaranteed to skate on the cleanest ice possible. Bring a crew and after your skate, visit the Americana style house bar and restaurant for a cold pint of craft and a burger. Queens also offers bowling lanes and a fully equipped arcade. Best of all, this ice rink is just an 8-minute walk from Astor Kensington, located directly between Bayswater and Queensway underground stations.

ALEXANDRA PALACE ICE RINK (Wood Green)

Alexandra Palace is the go- to location for something out of the ordinary on your night out. Rather than starting your night at the pub as usual, head to Alexandra Palace and enjoy Ice Disco every Saturday night from 20:30 to 23:00, with a resident DJ and awesome light show, it’s bound to get you in high gear for the rest of your evening. The door price is only £10, and just £8 with valid student ID. This rink also enforces a “no spectator” policy, so there is no need to feel embarrassed if your skating skills are a little rusty!

LEE VALLEY ICE RINK (Clapton)

If you are hoping to take in a professional lesson, watch some incredibly talented skaters (both freestyle and figure), catch an ice hockey game, or just have a chill skate around an international regulation sized ice rink, Lee Valley Ice Centre is the place to be. This rink is also home to some great local hockey teams, including the N.I.H.L. London Raiders. Check out their website for an official schedule.

How much does an ice rink cost?

While we enjoy the charm of London’s ice rinks, have you ever wondered about the cost of creating these winter wonderlands?

Costs vary based on size, location, and type (synthetic or natural ice). For a deeper understanding, especially about eco-friendly and cost-effective synthetic options, Check out GliceRink. They provide valuable insights into the aspects of ice rink construction and maintenance.
