LONDON’S MUST TRY SUNDAY ROASTS

Is there anything the Brits take more seriously than a Sunday Roast? This tradition is a perfect excuse to get out of the house on a Sunday, especially as the months get colder. A Sunday roast should consists of slowly cooked, melt in your mouth meat (or nuts for the vegetarians), whether it be beef, lamb, chicken, duck or goat. There should be some sort of delicious carbohydrate, like potatoes, and well thought out sides. On top of this, a Yorkshire pudding with a generous serving of gravy and you’ve got yourself motivation to work through that hangover and get out of the house.

We know it can be tough getting your butt into gear and out of the house on a Sunday, let alone choosing the right location amongst hundreds of choices around London. Let us recommend some of the best roasts around the city (second best to your mum’s, of course) so you don’t have to.

1. The Princess of Shoreditch

This is a great pub on any day of the week, but the Sunday roasts are spectacular. Choose from Chicken, Pork with apple sauce, Sea Bass fillet, Beef, Lamb, or the vegan Nut Roast. All served with a scrumptious side of vegetables, potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and jus.

From £14

2. The Pig and Butcher – Islington

A great selection of craft beers and awesome food served casually on untreated wood tables. This is a seriously gastronomic pub. Check out the menu for yourself, as they are constantly changing their Sunday roast to use the best available produce.

From £16

3. The White Hart – Waterloo

Beef, Chicken, Lamb or the vegan Nut roast, served with potatoes, vegetables and a Yorkie. This pub, located centrally, combines the best of British pub hospitality with a quirky and individual charm tucked away in the streets of Waterloo.

From £13.75

4. Maggie Jones’s – Kensington

An extremely cosy, homely vibe, perfect for a rainy Sunday roast. Choose from Lamb, Sirloin, Pork belly or Chicken. A generous serving beautifully cooked, in a cute cul-de-sac off Kensington High St. This is a local favourite, and even better, a ten minute walk from Astor Hyde Park!

From £18.50

5. The Loose Box – Westminster

A ten minute walk from Astor Victoria, you will find The Loose Box. The Sunday roast is something to brag about, and there’s free wifi also. Located centrally, so a great place to pop into for a meal after doing some exploring around the sights of London.

From £15

6. Blacklock – Soho

Located less than a mile from Astor Museum, Blacklock serves an unreal Sunday roast. Choose from 55 day aged Beef Rump, Cornish Lamb Leg, or Middlewhite Pork Loin served with a Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roast potatoes, vegetables and a bone marrow gravy. Yum!

From £16

7. The Windsor Castle – Kensington (VEGAN ROAST)

As well as doing delicious meats, The Windsor Castle does a delicious vegan nut roast. This comes with baby potatoes and gravy.

£16
